Tôi yêu cuốn sách này
I adore Mattie Gokey! My heart aches for her through this entire novel, as we watch her struggling with the war between fulfilling her own dreams and caring for her family. My favorite line of the book comes near the end, when Mattie finally concludes that it's bad to break a promise, but it is worse to let a promise break you. What a difficult lesson for us all to learn, and how wise for our young Mattie! I also loved Donnelly's artful weaving of Grace Brown's tale into Mattie's life. Grace's fate rings such a clear message in Mattie's heart, and I can't imagine how any reader could escape this novel without first examining her own life and the choices that have marked it.
