A friend and I decided to check out the Marianne Williamson book, "A Course in Weight Loss". While I was waiting for that at the library, I listened to the audio version of Geneen Roth's book, "Women, Food, and God" and was totally blown away. This is a woman who understands the issue. When I finally did get the Williamson book from the library, it was such a poor copycat imitation of the Roth material, I returned it the next day. I am not particularly religious, so I was very dubious about the word "God" in the title. However, Ms. Roth delivered an excellent narrative and set of personal tools that came together at the end with a lesson in spirituality. It really worked for me. I've been a yo-yo weight girl my whole life and the few weeks that I've listened to this book, I haven't fallen back into old patterns like I used to. I'm rather amazed and really satisfied for the first time in my life. I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels like food is not always their friend. I love to cook and I love to eat, but now I feel like I have a healthier balance in my life--very empowering.
