This book was pretty short. It's only about 58 pages or so. For such a short story, it had a pretty serious plot. Too me, it's a solid 3.5 stars, but I'll bump it up to 4 because I DID like it better than just 3. James Duran has decided to end his life. At 45, he has lost everything. His wife, his job and somewhere down the line he has lost himself in the process. Tired of being unhappy, he plans to be bold and do things he wants, but was afraid to the day before he schedules his suicide. Making the decision that he will throw himself in front of the train he takes everyday to work to end his life was the easy part. Making his last 24 hours on Earth happy is another. For over a year, James has noticed the handsome, athletic man sitting alone quietly every morning on the train. Although they have never spoken, James has developed a fondness for the beautiful and younger man. Even though he had been married for years, James attraction to men has come back to surface since he laid eyes on the mysterious man. James wants to spend time the man, so it was a simple decision to introduce himself and even preposition the man and make the fantasies he has about him come true. Chad can't believe his eyes when he spots the sexy man he has been secretly watching in the past year or so, sitting at his seat and striking up a conversation with him. Chad has rules about hooking up with men...especially strange men, but they soon fly out the window as he gets to know James on the short train ride. When James asks Chad to play hooky and spend the morning with him, something compels Chad to agree. The more time he spends with James the more he likes him. But, James obviously hiding something and the things he is saying isn't adding up, this makes Chad worried and suspicious about him, even though he just met the man. Will James find hope for his future with Chad? Will he be able to once more believe in himself? I really liked this book. It is very fast paced and the relationship is pretty hot for a short story. I think it would have been better if it had been longer. I would have LOVED to had read an epiloge saying how everything turned out on down the line. Fast, enjoyable read.
